Audi A6 e-tron
There are not many details about Audi’s larger electric SUV but it is slated to appear in late 2022. Bigger and more spacious than the Q4 e-tron, it should have batteries that offer a near-400 mile range.
BMW i3
The car the corporate sector has been waiting for could finally be revealed in 2022, probably adopting the i3 name: the full electric version of the all-conquering 3 Series. Likely to use the same powertrain as the i4, that should mean a near 300bhp electric motor and range of almost 300 miles.
BMW iX
The iX has looks that divide opinion but it certainly performs. Top end version get power of more than 500bhp and a range of nearly 400 miles. Prices start from £69,905.
Cupra Born
The VW ID.3 electric car has proved hugely popular, and the Cupra Born is its sporter cousin, with even funkier styling, 231bhp and more than 350-mile plus range in the larger battery versions.
Ineos Grenadier
If you miss the old Defender, the Grenadier might be for you. Expensive, with six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, a classically recognisable shape and aircraft-inspired cabin.
Honda Civic
Celebrating its fiftieth year, the eleventh version of the Civic launches in 2022, and will come with an all-hybrid line-up as well as less fussy styling and more interior space than its predecessor.
Kia Sportage
Kia’s new SUV arrives in early 2022, with a range of mild hybrid, hybrid, petrol, and diesel, and sharp new styling. Later in the year the electric version, the EV9, may make an appearance too.
Mercedes EQB
A Mercedes EQB SUV, an all-electric version of the Mercedes GLB, has nearly 300-mile range, seven seats, and prices starting from £52,000.
Mercedes EQE
Hot on the heels of the EQS is Mercedes’ second plug-in saloon/hatch, and it’s an important one: the EQE is the electric equivalent of the E-Class. Higher spec version will have dual motor four-wheel drive and a potential range of more than 400 miles. Prices are likely to start from around £65,000.
Nissan Ariya
The sister car to the Megane E-Tech is Nissan’s first purpose-built SUV and, due in the summer, comes with a choice of two- and four-wheel drive, and range of over 300 miles. Price start from around £42,000.
Renault Megane E-Tech
Having been at the forefront of the electric revolution with the ZOE, it’s taken a while for a second electric Renault to appear. But this crossover Megane, due in late 2022 costing between £30-40,000, is built on a new electric-only platform shared with Nissan and has range of up to nearly 300 miles.
Volkswagen ID.5
The new Volkswagen ID.5 coupe-SUV comes in Pro, Pro Performance or sporty GTX versions. Prices are expected to start from around £47,000 and its slippery coupe shape gives it marginally more range than the ID.4.
Volvo C40 Recharge
Volvo’s first EV-only model is the C40, a coupe version of the XC40. Sold only through Volvo’s website, it costs from £45,000, and has a range of 261 miles.

Mercedes-AMG One
The long-awaited, £2.4 million One finally hits the road in 2022. With an F1-derived engine, it produces 1,000bhp and a top speed of 217mph, while high-tech aero keeps it on the ground.
Lotus Evija
If 1000bhp from the Mercedes-AMG One is not enough, the Lotus’ new hypercar doubles that, with 2,000bp from its electric-only powertrain.
Pininfarina Battista
The revered Italian design house is launching its own hypercar this year, with a £1.7m price tag and four motors producing 1900bhp.
