With new features constantly being released to give our customers the best possible experience while using it, here’s a handy guide to using Allstar Co-Pilot to charge a vehicle using the public EV charging network.
Our newest update helps drivers make the most of the Allstar electric charging network, giving them the opportunity to arrive at their destination with the exact charge they need in their business EV.
Before beginning to charge, drivers will need to make sure they’ve registered, and added their Allstar charging card in-app.
You can use the new in-app EV routing feature to help reduce range anxiety, and give you the confidence that you will reach your destination without running out of battery.
Our app uses live charger data helping you make the most of available chargers across our network, keeping you happily en-route, and helping improve efficiency by showing available and reliable locations.
Tap on the 'Routing’ button on the top right of the Co-Pilot map to begin. You then need to enter some details:
Your start location and end destination, including any waypoint on your journey
Add your vehicle and starting state of charge
Tell the app how much battery you’d like at the end of your journey too
Your route will now be displayed in the app, and you can follow it using Google or Apple maps to get to your destination via the recommended stops.
Alternatively, use the Allstar Co-Pilot map to find your nearest EV charging point. Each charger on the map will be represented by a colour.
Green: The charger is available
Red: The charger is not available to use
Grey: Status unavailable To see more details about the charger, tap on it and select “See more details” to see full charger availability, speed and price per kWh. This section also gives you more information to make sure your EV is compatible with the charger type.
Once you’ve parked up, open the Allstar Co-Pilot app and select “Charge and pay” to start the charging process.
You’ll then see a full list of the connectors at your charger, including which ones are available for you to use. Select the connector you want to use, this will show you more details on its speed, pricing, and the card you’ll be using for payment.
Once you’ve connected to your vehicle, select the “Plug in” button. Then select “Start charging” to begin remote charging.
Allstar Co-Pilot will then ask you to verify the process using your phone’s pin, Face ID, or touch ID.
Once confirmed, it can take up to two minutes to start charging your EV.
You can now go back to the map on Allstar Co-Pilot while your EV charges. To view the charge session status, select “View session” to track the progress and see how much battery your EV has.
Select “Stop charging” at any time to stop the charge session. It can take up to two minutes for this to verify.
Once the charge session has completed, you can view the transaction details including the duration, how much electricity was used, and how much the charge session cost in the Allstar Co-Pilot app.
Now you can get back on the road with complete peace of mind, knowing that any charging paid for through the app will be neatly consolidated, just like your card payments. And the best part? You can skip the hassle of using your card at over 90% of locations.
