Allstar, the UK’s leading fuel and EV solutions company, today announces it has the largest combined fuel and EV network in the UK with more than 8,600 chargepoints, across more than 3,100 locations for fleets recharging on the road, as well as access to over 90% of the UK's fuel sites. The announcement was made on the postponed World EV Day (World EV Day + 20) during a dinner for industry partners and customers at The Shard in London, with the keynote address from World EV Day founder, Ade Thomas.
The surge in EV momentum continues for Allstar, which is on-boarding additional operators and expects to have over 10,000 chargepoints by the end of the year. This follows a focus on building a best-in-class fast and rapid EV network, which recently welcomed GRIDSERVE, MFG, Connected Kerb, Charge My Street, Allego, PlugNGo, and Mer to its roster, joining the likes of Source London, Geniepoint, ESB Energy, Osprey, Alfa Power and LiFe.
Allstar has invested in Mina and launched Allstar Homecharge. The solution helps simplify payments for electric vehicle (EV) fleets charging at home, all managed through one supplier with complete visibility of charging and payments.
Having anticipated EVs becoming increasingly important to the future of fleets and business management, Allstar launched the Allstar One Electric fuel card in 2019. This eliminates the need to subscribe to multiple EV charging networks by aggregating merchants and locations, resulting in lower costs and added convenience. The industry-leading functionality was further strengthened by joining forces with Zap-Map, the UK’s No.1 EV search and mapping app, enabling customers to search, plan and pay for EV charging on the road. While parent company FLEETCOR, recently invested in the company as part of its Series A fundraising, as well as acquiring Plugsurfing, a leading European electric vehicle (EV) software and network provider to vehicle OEMs and charge point operators (CPO). This acquisition allows FLEETCOR to serve a broader segment of the market whilst bringing best-in-class products and technology to their fleet customers.
To support all organisations as they transition their fleets, Allstar’s EV solutions enable fleet operators to manage all fuel types, whether traditional (petrol and diesel) or alternative; electric or hybrid, on one payment card. Allstar’s traditional fuel network is also the largest in the UK and is underpinned by this functionality, enabling businesses to add EVs to their fleets while managing fuel purchasing for its existing vehicles.
Behind the scenes, there has been intense internal investment in team growth, with Tom Rowlands moving to Managing Director, Global EV Solutions, having been part of the FLEETCOR family for four years. Tom brings with him a wealth of experience from his time at Deloitte and having served at KPMG and MasterCard. Also bolstering the EV department is Laura Lancaster, VP of EV Sales and Partnerships who has over 14 years of industry experience, including numerous positions at Shell under her belt, plus the acquisition of Plugsurfing adds around 100 additional experts with deep EV experience. Beyond the team, Allstar has also invested in its newly launched EV Hub full of news and insights, designed for everyone from those with a fleet of EV vehicles to eager learners about the changing world of EVs.
Tom Rowlands, Managing Director, Global EV Solutions at Allstar Business Solutions, said: “We’re proud of the milestones Allstar and FLEETCOR has reached to date, particularly our best-in-class EV charging network, that mirrors what we can offer customers today in fuel, as well as our first of its kind home charging solution to simplify EV charging payments for drivers and businesses when at home. This couldn’t have happened without growing our team of experts internally as well as joining forces with some of the country’s leading providers. We look forward to enhancing our offering to fleets long into the future.”
Paul Holland, Managing Director, UK Fleet at Allstar Business Solutions, added: “The challenges and complexity for fleet operators transitioning to electric cannot be underestimated. By working closely with our customers, which includes many of the largest fleets in the UK, we have developed a truly market leading solution and unrivalled level of expertise to help fleets and their drivers transition efficiently to electric vehicles.
Laura Lancaster, VP of EV Sales and Partnerships at Allstar Business Solutions, said: “We at Allstar know the importance that EVs hold for their environmental impact, but also understand the adjustments that this means businesses will have to make as a result of integrating EVs. It is crucial that we support businesses as they plan and execute their transition, as it is not something that can happen overnight. That’s why we’ve put many steps in place to create a wide-reaching network that is easily accessible, convenient, rich in insights and covers all bases.”
