What does this mean for business fleets? The discount applies between 3rd February-3rd May to Be.EV’s standard price (75p per kWh for ultra-rapid charging to become 67.5p per kWh which, when compared with the latest AllCosts report stating the average price to charge in public is 78p per kWh, this could add up to be a significant saving.
This offer couldn’t come at a better time for fleets. As the UK’s charging network continues to grow in number and as charge point speeds improve, helping to minimise driver downtime, fleets are becoming more sensitive to which charge point operators (CPOs) they allow their drivers to use, often based on price. This offer from Be.EV enables fleets to make savings throughout the three-month period, which they hope is a key motivator to encourage fleets to continue their transition to EV.
It’s important that CPOs, such as Be.EV, recognise the role they play in encouraging fleets to adopt EVs by enhancing their networks, increasing the number of ultra-rapid chargers and provide cost-effective pricing for fleets to charge on the road. With the 2030 deadline for banning new petrol- and diesel-only vehicle sales getting closer, this underpins the urgency for businesses to adopt EVs and be encouraged to do so which could be facilitated by the charging experience and pricing that CPOs offer.
Paul Holland, Managing Director for UK/ ANZ Fleet at Corpay, including UK brand Allstar: said: “Fleets are under mounting pressure ahead of the 2030 ban of new ICE vehicles, not to mention the economic pressures felt universally. That’s why it was important for us to recognise that cost of charging is an increasingly important factor for fleets in choosing their charge points, and to support them as much as possible.
“We have a long-standing relationship with Be.EV as the first charge point operator to work with Allstar in this way to bring such a benefit to customers. We are thrilled to enhance our partnership to provide a much-needed cost saving for customers across their network and look forward to supporting fleets in this way in the future.”
